THE TRIBUTE
This is a very special reflection of a simple, yet open individual’s mind. It is a long anticipated chance to say "Thank You" to the special people in my life. It may tend to convey rather mismatched thoughts, a sort of rambling, neither defined or undefined; but nevertheless, the general concept is there!
I’ve often referred to myself as a "complex" individual, but I have never taken the time to break the adjective down. I choose to think the word refers to a careful blend of unique, infinite possibilities, interwoven in a way that does not reflect age, yet becomes tightly knit with time. Before the close of my life, I am confident that all shall be foreseen. As I walk upon the threshold of manhood I cannot do any better than to reminisce the past, before the future is clear. I must portray my love to the ones most dear – my parents – the ones responsible. I love you – nothing more, nothing less.
Oh, how often my thoughts return to the innocence, warmth and serenity of the place we called home! The insurance policy which we enjoyed, seemed so unharmed by the inflationary standards of today. It was based on, and still is, an ability to feel for one an other the things most important – each other’s happiness. Again and again, my mind will reflect the joyous memories of a weak, meager youngster’s face in anticipation of a good night kiss by a loving mother, or the strong handshake of congratulations and praise of an involved father. Both had their own special way of reassuring him that faith in God will protect and propel him to a new and higher plane – a circle of hereditary infiniteness. He must pass it on – as it has been portrayed.
At this time of year, as we celebrate the birth of Christ, families are known to grow closer. I’ve always felt that contentment. I honestly and openly feel that no other individual set forth upon this earth could be so lucky, yet so unworthy of the unwavering, steadfast beams that have guided me down the path of life this far. And also, for the ability to foresee that I have the same omnipotent goal to guide and stroll with my offspring in the way my parents directed!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Nothing more, nothing less; but a thought – a feeling of the heart of one grateful son. The debt is large and can only be paid with love and respect.
Your son,
Mitch
